Description
The Dynamic Effector is the base class for all dynamic effectors in the simulation. It is a Physical Object that provides forces to change the position of an object. Dynamic effectors contribute external forces and torques to the spacecraft equations of motion, enabling thrusters, drag surfaces, solar radiation pressure panels, and other force-generating elements to affect spacecraft dynamics.
Example Use Cases
- Thruster Modeling: Apply thrust forces and torques from propulsion system components.
- Drag Simulation: Compute aerodynamic drag forces on spacecraft surfaces.
- Solar Radiation Pressure: Model photon pressure forces on spacecraft structures.
Module Implementation
The Dynamic Effector attaches to a spacecraft and participates in the dynamics integration process by contributing forces and torques through the ComputeDynamics method.
Properties
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Force_B | External body frame (B) force by effector |
| Force_N | External inertial frame (N) force by effector |
| Torque_LB_B | External body frame (B) torque by effector |
| In_BodyMassMsg | Message ID for incoming body mass state |
Methods
| Method | Description |
|---|---|
| ComputeDynamics | Computes the force and torque on the body; triggered by the spacecraft on an Update call |
| LinkStateProperties | Links and registers any states from the state model associated with the root object |
Inheritance
This base class is extended by specific effector implementations such as thrusters, reaction wheels, drag models, and solar pressure models. Each derived class implements ComputeDynamics to calculate its specific force and torque contributions.
