Description
The Heatmap Camera is a specialized Camera payload that visualizes scalar properties of spacecraft components as a color-mapped image. It can be configured to view properties such as temperature, mass, or other numeric parameters that exist on objects within its field of view.
Example Use Cases
- Thermal Imaging: Visualize temperature distribution across spacecraft components to identify hot spots or thermal gradients.
- Mass Distribution: View the mass properties of components for center-of-mass analysis.
- Property Inspection: Inspect any configurable scalar property on simulation objects.
Module Implementation
The Heatmap Camera extends the base Camera functionality by rendering objects based on a specified property value rather than their visual appearance. The Property parameter determines which scalar property is visualized (default is Temperature).
Objects within the camera’s field of view are rendered using a color gradient that maps the property values to a heatmap representation.
Assumptions/Limitations
- The target objects must have the specified property defined for the heatmap to display meaningful data.
- The camera inherits all configuration options and limitations from the base Camera component.
