Enum in Zendir.Classes
Description
Stretch (transfer) functions for mapping high-dynamic-range FITS pixel values to displayable 8-bit intensity. Each function compresses the physical value range differently, emphasising faint or bright features.
Properties
| Declared | Description |
|---|---|
| Linear = 0 | Linear mapping: output is proportional to input.Best for data that already spans a narrow, well-defined range. |
| Log = 1 | Logarithmic mapping: output = log(1 + value).Compresses bright values and expands faint detail. |
| Sqrt = 2 | Square-root mapping: output = sqrt(value).A milder compression than Log, common in optical astronomy. |
| Asinh = 3 | Inverse hyperbolic sine mapping: output = asinh(value).Handles both very faint and very bright regions well; preservesstructure across extreme dynamic ranges. |
| Power = 4 | Power-law mapping: output = value^gamma.Gamma < 1 brightens faint detail (like Sqrt), gamma > 1 darkens it.Configure the exponent via . |
