The full angle of the mainlobe of the antenna, which is twice the half-power beamwidth and so reaches out to where the pattern has fallen away. Nothing outside this cone is sensed at all. Setting this resizes the aperture to the one that produces the requested mainlobe, which moves the gain to match.
