Objects add passive mission context without creating team-controlled spacecraft.
Creating a ground object

"ground": [
{
"id": "GO_001",
"type": "vessel",
"name": "Survey Vessel",
"planet": "Earth",
"latitude": 12.1,
"longitude": 44.2,
"altitude": 0.001,
"scale": 120,
"color": "#00FF00",

}Ground-object altitude is authored in kilometers. 0.001 is approximately one meter.
Supported ground uses include vessels and physical text or labels. Ground objects are passive: they do not have team controllers or normal spacecraft telemetry.
Creating text
{
"id": "GO_LABEL",
"type": "text",
"name": "Objective Label",
"planet": "Earth",
"latitude": 12.1,
"longitude": 44.2,
"altitude": 0.002,
"scale": 20,
"color": "#FFFFFF",
"data": {
"text": "ALPHA"
}
}Use text for visible clues, callsigns, or labels. Test readability from the intended camera and distance.
Creating a passive space object
"objects": {
"space": [
{
"name": "Defunct Satellite",
"orbit": [7800.0, 0.01, 51.6, 90.0, 0.0, 0.0],
"planet": "Earth",
"dynamic_type": "Orbit",
"attitude": [0, 0, 0],
"attitude_rate": [0, 0, 0.5],
"mesh": "None",
"scale": 1.0,
"color": "#FFFFFF",
"reflectivity": 0.5
}
]
}Passive space objects are useful for debris, spent rocket bodies, visual markers, and detection targets. They have no Space Range controller or component list.
Use a normal spacecraft definition when the object needs components, commands, telemetry, or docking behavior.
Testing objects
- verify geodetic and orbital units
- verify the object is visible from the intended sensor
- verify colors and labels are distinguishable
- make the corresponding question answer match the constructed world
- avoid putting required evidence outside the mission’s reachable geometry
Next, configure shared spacecraft or initial connections when needed.
