The events array schedules Spacecraft, GPS, and Cyber effects against simulation time.
Common event envelope
{
"Enabled": true,
"Name": "Event Name",
"Time": 100.0,
"Repeat": false,
"Interval": 1.0,
"Type": "Spacecraft",
"Assets": [],
"Target": "Transmitter",
"Data": {}
}| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
Enabled | Whether the event can fire |
Name | Facilitator-facing label |
Time | First trigger in simulation seconds |
Repeat | Whether the trigger repeats |
Interval | Repeat interval in simulation seconds |
Type | Spacecraft, GPS, or Cyber |
Assets | Target selection; empty means the widest available scope |
Target | Component, model, or handler target |
Data | Flat type-specific parameters |
The legacy value failure is treated as a Spacecraft event. Do not author Ground or Scenario event types.
NOTE
The Studio Events tab splits targeting into Target Class, Target Component, and Target Model, and lists fault values under Parameters. In JSON these map to
Target(the class, or a component name, with a-Modelsuffix for a model),Target Name(the component name), andData.
Finding supported event definitions
Studio ships default event presets in Space Range → Events. Use those presets as the in-product catalog for the installed version.
They show supported:
- event types
- target components
- error models
- parameter names
When writing JSON, reproduce a known preset or a tested event from an existing scenario. Do not guess target and Data names.
Targeting rules
An empty Assets array applies the event broadly. Use it for a deliberate scenario-wide anomaly, not because the target syntax is unclear.
For one spacecraft or team:
- use the same stable asset or collection identifiers used by the scenario
- test with the installed Studio version
- confirm only the intended constructed spacecraft changes
Timing rules
- events use simulation seconds
- repeat intervals also use simulation seconds
- the simulation must run past the event time
- reset returns to the scenario’s initial state and lets you repeat the test
Start with Repeat: false. A repeating fault can make recovery impossible.
Distinguishing event systems
These are Space Range scenario events. They are not the ordinary Studio events configured under a placed spacecraft’s Properties.
