Description
The Magnetic Field Planet Model is a model that defines the magnetic field attached to a particular planet or body. It provides magnetic field data that the Magnetic Model uses for computing the direction and strength of the magnetic field at a particular location around the celestial body.
Example Use Cases
- Magnetometer Simulation: Provide reference magnetic field vectors for magnetometer sensor modeling.
- Magnetic Torquer Control: Compute the local magnetic field for B-dot detumbling and magnetic attitude control.
Module Implementation
The Magnetic Field Planet Model attaches to a Celestial Body and defines the magnetic environment for that body.
Properties
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| In_PlanetStateMsg | Defines the location of the model in the simulation |
| MinAltitude | The minimum planet-relative position needed for the environment to work |
| MaxAltitude | Maximum altitude at which the environment will be calculated |
Inheritance
This class defines the magnetic field properties for a celestial body. For example, the Magnetic Field Centered Dipole Planet Model extends this class to provide a generic magnetic field model. The Magnetic Model queries this data to provide magnetic field information to spacecraft and sensors at their current position.
