Description
The Magnetic Model is a Universe Model that detects the presence of a magnetic field around an object.
Example Use Cases
- Magnetometer Modeling: Provide expected magnetic field vectors for sensor simulation and attitude determination.
- Magnetic Torquer Design: Compute the ambient magnetic field for sizing magnetic attitude control actuators.
Module Implementation
The Magnetic Model attaches to a Physical Object and queries Magnetic Field Planet Model instances on celestial bodies to determine the local magnetic field vector at the object’s current position and sets the values in the output message.
Properties
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Field_N | Local magnetic field at some inertial point in the inertial frame |
| In_TransformMsg | A reference to the transform message containing the current position of the object in the simulation |
| Out_MagneticFieldMsg | A message containing all information about the magnetic field at the current location |
