Toolbar Panel

The Toolbar Panel is the bar under the Zendir Studio menus. It stays visible for the whole session, except on the Home Screen. Hover any control to read its tooltip.

The menus above it (File, Edit, Window, Help) repeat several of the same actions. The simulation name on the far right of that menu bar is the name of the open simulation and can be edited. Select the control to the right of the name to set the simulation description.

Opening Simulations and Windows

The left cluster is project and workspace controls, from left to right:

  • Home: Returns to the Home Screen. If the open simulation has unsaved changes, Studio will prompt you to save or discard them first.
  • Save: Writes the open project to My Simulations. See Saving a Simulation.
  • Export: Packs the project into a .zen file, or exports JSON or recorded data. See Exporting a Simulation.
  • Screenshot: Creates a screenshot of the current window and saves it to a selected location.
  • Preferences: Opens Studio Preferences, including options for changing resolution, save settings, and the AI provider token used by the AI Chat Panel and Space Range Mission Assistant.
  • New Window: Opens a new Studio window. Add panels to it with + on a widget tab bar, the same way as in the main workspace.
  • Documentation: Opens the Zendir documentation in a browser.

Controlling Playback

The center cluster is the simulation clock and playback. The same play, pause, and reset controls appear in the Timeline Panel header. A first-run walkthrough is in Running a Simulation.

  • Time: Elapsed simulation time as days, hours, minutes, and seconds. It stays at 00:00:00:00 until you play or scrub.
  • Status: The simulation state. Editing means the run is reset and the scenario can still be changed. The label updates when you play, pause, or scrub.
  • Play: Starts the simulation. The same control pauses it while a run is in progress. CTRL+P also plays or pauses.
  • Reset: Restores the initial orbit, attitude, events, and plots from before the first play. CTRL+R also resets. This is not the same as go to start on the Timeline Panel, which only moves the playhead.

WARNING

Spacecraft and most component properties are locked while the simulation is running or paused. Reset before adding hardware, changing variables, or removing objects.

Opening External Data and Space Range

The right cluster opens two product windows:

  • External Data: Opens publishers and subscribers that connect the simulation to files, serial ports, Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT), TCP, or UDP. This allows hardware-in-the-loop applications to be developed.
  • Space Range: Opens the Space Range settings used to host a live training exercise. See Space Range.
